Holomua Commitment

HPU: Hawaiʻi’s affordable private university

HPU is committed to making a private college education affordable and accessible for first-year students from Hawai‘i.  We recognize the financial challenges faced by many Hawaiʻi families, and our Holomua Commitment offers a comprehensive array of programs and opportunities to support local students.

The cornerstone of the Holomua Commitment is our Guaranteed Scholarship and Admission Program (GSAP)

If you're a 2025 graduate of a Hawaiʻi high school and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, HPU offers you:

  • Guaranteed admission to Hawaiʻi’s largest private university if you submit your application by January 15, 2025.
  • Guaranteed $15,000 scholarship, at minimum – your aid package may be greater depending on financial need and/or academics.

Plus:

  • Admission decision and scholarship award no later than February 15, 2025 (or December 15, 2025 if you apply by the November 15 Early Action deadline).
  • Priority financial aid awarding if FAFSA is submitted by January 15, 2025.
  • $500 Visit Grant for attending a campus tour or Shark Day event, prior to submitting your enrollment deposit. Visit grant is applied to your HPU aid award.
  • Priority Fall 2025 class registration
  • Early access to the housing application to ensure first choice accommodations
  • Special gift for students who submit their enrollment deposit to HPU by May 1, 2025.

Financial circumstances should not be a barrier to achieving a private university education.

YOU CAN AFFORD COLLEGE. WE CAN HELP.

In 2023, 100% of the freshman class received institutional grants and/or scholarships.

Deadline to apply for Holomua Commitment Guaranteed Admission and Scholarship: January 15, 2025
