Dr. Mark Hardison’s career is focused on clinical intervention research in occupational therapy that highlight the uses of mindfulness meditation and other wellness interventions as complements to traditional settings. His current project, funded by the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF), is to develop and implement a restorative, community-based intervention for individuals who have disordered eating. Dr. Hardison uses a mixed-methods approach to his work that balances quantitative improvements in wellbeing with qualitative experiences of the individuals receiving these interventions. He has various publications on these topics in national and international occupational therapy journals, presentations at the regional, national, and international level as well as a book chapter on eating disorder in the upcoming 3rd edition of Brown, Stoffel, and Munoz’s Occupational Therapy in Mental Health textbook. Dr. Hardison lives in the vibrant Albuquerque, New Mexico known for its red and green chile, hot air balloon festivals, and Rio Grande and mountain ecology. Some of his most cherished occupations are spending time with his dogs, playing jazz piano, and table-top board gaming.
