Peter Britos, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at Hawaiʻi Pacific Å·ÃÀAƬ (HPU) in downtown Honolulu, and Program Chair of the Cinematic Multimedia Arts Program. At HPU he teaches Global Cinema, Global Media Studies, Creative Narrative Production, Global Documentary, Feature Film Screenwriting, Cinematography, and Photography, amongst other courses.

Dr. Britos is the recipient of various academic and industry awards, including the FINE Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon Å·ÃÀAƬ for Gigapixel Photography, the Walt Disney-Hollywood Pictures Fellowship Writers Award for Feature Film Screenwriting, the inaugural Postdoctoral Fellowship in Critical Studies & Pedagogy at the USC School of Cinematic Arts Division of Cinema & Media Studies, and the Golden Apple Distinguished Teaching Award from HPU. He has served as faculty at HPU Arts, Communication, Languages, and Media Department, UH Department of English, UH Department of Communication, UH Academy for Creative Media (ACM) Director & Chief Academic Officer, Å·ÃÀAƬ of California Santa Barbara Film Studies Department, and at USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) Division of Cinema & Media Studies, and the SCA Graduate Screenwriting Program.

He has as well served as a Writer-Consultant for USCʻs Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) and on the ICT Concept Development and Visualization Team. In Burbank, he wrote and produced syndicated radio as Executive Vice President of Production and Development at the Clear Channel Communications hub for Dees Entertainment and Netstar Communications. At the NBC dual-broadcasting affiliate KHNL-KFVE-TV, he was the broadcast industry’s first Media Manager at the first all-digital newsroom in the world. At CBS Television City in Los Angeles, he produced music artists, actors, and other celebrities on late-night television for Quincy Jones and David Salzman on VIBE-TV. Segments he wrote and produced include Ice Cube, Master P., Snoop Dogg, Jon Voight, Robert Duvall, Enrique Iglesias, Pamela Lee Anderson, Samuel L. Jackson, Laurence Fishburne, Carmen Electra, Yo Yo Ma, Cypress Hill, Kevin Bacon, Chow Yun Fat, Hilary Swank, Jon Stewart, Michael Moore, the Harlem Globetrotters, Kobe Bryant, Oscar De La Hoya, and many more.

Britos is a writer, filmmaker, and mixed-media artist. He creates with ink, watercolor, oil, light, and pixels. He works on found objects like wood, rocks, and clothing, and on canvas, paper, film, and with digital tools. In between bodysurfing and hanging with his family, he is at work on a trilogy of time-hopping science fiction novels and a trilogy of feature films.
