Collin Boothby is committed to creating meaningful musical experiences with students, colleagues, and for audiences alike. In 2024, Collin accepted the Director of Choral Activities position at Hawaii Pacific Å·ÃÀAƬ in Honolulu, Hawaii. Previous roles include teaching at the Å·ÃÀAƬ of Southern California and Brazosport College, the Assistant Organist/Choral Director at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills, CA, and the Organist/Choirmaster position at Trinity Episcopal Church in Houston, TX. Since 2018, he has led a professional choir for High Holy Days at Congregation Beth Israel in Houston, TX.
In May 2024, Collin graduated with a DMA in Sacred Music from Å·ÃÀAƬ of Southern California and was named the outstanding graduate in his department. Collin presented research regarding the aging voice, hymn descants, and several recitals while fulfilling an academic concentration in Choral Music, and electives in Instrumental Conducting and Vocology. He earned an MM in Organ Performance from Rice Å·ÃÀAƬ and graduated with a BM from Texas Christian Å·ÃÀAƬ with distinction as an Honors Laureate. During high school, he completed an Associate degree from Olympic College.
Collin has been featured in performances at notable venues including Carnegie Hall, Canterbury Cathedral, and Washington National Cathedral among others. A partnership between Rice Å·ÃÀAƬ and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig, Germany presented him the opportunity to perform and study on many significant historic instruments, including the 1746 Hildebrant organ in Naumburg, which was tested and played by J.S. Bach. As a collaborative artist, Collin has appeared with the New England Symphonic Ensemble, Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra, Ken Davis Chorale, TCU Wind Symphony, Fort Worth Choral Society, and the Brazosport College Chamber Singers and Civic Chorus. As a conductor, Collin has led performances with the USC Chamber Singers, USC Concert Chorale, USC Å·ÃÀAƬ Chorus, and the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Collin is active in several professional organizations including the American Guild of Organists (AGO), American Choral Directors Association, and the Association of Anglican Musicians. Currently, Collin sits on the National Council of the AGO as the Councillor for Conventions. He previously volunteered for the AGO on the Committee for Conventions, the Concert Committee of the Houston Chapter, and as Publicity Chair for the 2015 Regional Convention in Fort Worth.
Collin looks forward to exploring Hawaii with his fianceé Jessica, and their adorable dog, Finn. Their past adventures have included exploring New Zealand, Europe, and much of the U.S. They enjoy traveling, hiking, swimming, and spending time with friends and family and are excited to make Hawaii their new home.
