Online Master's In Educational Leadership

Why Choose Hawaii Pacific Å·ÃÀAƬ Degrees

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership (MEDEL) from Hawai‘i Pacific Å·ÃÀAƬ prepares new and experienced educators for leadership and administrative roles in classrooms, schools, and higher education institutions. The courses expose students to current issues and trends in the field related to diversity, social change, technology, budgeting, legal issues, and more.

Throughout this online master’s, you will learn from your peers, who are new and experienced educators from around the world. This diversity of culture, experience, and thought will allow you to embrace and embody the Hawaiian values of Pono, Kuleana, and Aloha. As you explore how to use new technologies and teaching strategies in transformative ways, you will learn what it means to prioritize ethics in education, demonstrate responsible leadership, and meet every challenge with empathy.

Through a values-driven curriculum, hands-on projects, faculty mentorship, and a final research capstone, this online master’s in educational leadership will equip you with the skills you need to emerge as a more reflective, socially responsible, and future-focused leader — one who possess the confidence and the skills to activate necessary change in schools, communities, and higher education institutions.

Successful students in the Master of Education in Educational Leadership will:

  1. Learn to use formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.
  2. Understand diversity and provide equal learning opportunities. They will use their understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. They will grasp, too, how their own students differ in their approaches to learning, and create instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners in order to support their intellectual, social, and personal development.
  3. Research, evaluate, and use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage their own students' development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and performance skills.
  4. Learn to use effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.
  5. Become reflective practitioners who continually evaluate the effects of their choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community), and who actively seek out opportunities to grow professionally.
  6. Complete a capstone research project. Understand, analyze, evaluate, and apply the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and can create a capstone research that makes these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students.

Enrolling in this master’s program could be the first step toward pursuing a rewarding career in educational leadership. Some of these roles include:
