HPU’s fall theatrical production of the play Everybody, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins premieres on November 10, 2023, at . The play is directed by HPU Theatre Director Emily Stapleton, MFA, and features a large cast and crew of HPU students and alumni.
Everybody is a funny, modern riff on a 15th century morality play in which the title character takes a journey through life's greatest mystery — the meaning of living. The play was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2018, and first premiered Off-Broadway at the Irene Diamond Stage at Signature Theatre Company in 2017.
“This show has been particularly fun to work on because there is so much room for creativity,” Stapleton said. “The students have come up with a lot of fun ideas, and we've spent a lot of time laughing in rehearsals! I think it's going to be a fun one.”
HPU’s production of Everybody features 20 students and two alumni. Fourteen students are in the cast, three are student designers, and three are working backstage. The stage manager and assistant director are both HPU alumni.
All HPU students may watch the performance for free with valid student identification. General admission tickets are $10.
