The Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association (HLTA) selected three HPU Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) students to participate in its 2022-2023 Generational Mentoring Program. The program is eight months in length, and it pairs young leaders from HPU’s university-level tourism and hospitality schools with industry professionals from the visitor industry.

The program began on October 1, 2022, and operates under the leadership of President and CEO of Hawai'i Lodging & Tourism Association Mufi Hannemann. HPU Visiting Assistant Professor and Program Manager of HTM Rojan Baniya, Ph.D., oversees the program.

The 2022-2023 Generational Mentoring Program students are:

  • Isabel Thorvaldsen
  • Moeha Takeuchi
  • Sera Lee

“HLTA Mentoring program connects our learning in the class with industry,” said Baniya. “The industry leaders and managers directly work with our students and teach them industry traits. This program is a beautiful initiative of HLTA, and HPU is glad to be part of it. We must thank HLTA and President Hannemann for that. We are offering the best of opportunities to our students. This program will make them confident and prepared for their careers ahead.”
