The HPU Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) graduates successfully completed their project defenses in May 2023, marking a milestone in their academic journey. A total of four individuals presented their projects to HPU professors and their families, showcasing their dedication and expertise.

HPU Dean of the School of Nursing Edna Magpantay-Monroe Ed.D., APRN, CMCDP, expressed her admiration for the graduates' achievements, emphasizing the importance of their contributions to the nursing profession. She noted that, “Achieving a DNP is a huge milestone. Nurses contribute to their profession by creating scholarly projects that can enhance or evaluate health outcomes or practice.”

HPU Assistant Professor and Online Graduate Chair Jennifer Baumstark DNP, APRN, CNM-BC, commended the DNP students for their tremendous efforts in completing their projects. She remarked that, “The DNP students all worked extremely hard to complete their projects. I am so proud of each one of them!”

2023 DNP Graduates

Paula Bendigo, DNPc, MSN, FNP-C presented on “Low Health Literacy Interventions in the Adult Primary Care Setting.” Her DNP project chair was Dr. Augustina Manuzak.

Joel Bauzon, DNPc, MSN, FNP-BC presented on “The Implementation of an Educational Intervention Aimed at Enhancing Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Awareness and Knowledge Among Military Healthcare Providers.” His DNP project chair was Dr. Jennifer Baumstark. 

Tracy Ocampo, DNPc, MSN, FNP presented on “Improving the Mental Health Disturbances of College Students during a Mental Health Crisis: Impact of Education on Administrators and Directors of Student Health Centers.” Her DNP project chair was Dr. Jennifer Baumstark.

Janelle Jinbo, DNPc presented on “Optimizing Use of Telemedicine Services in an Outpatient Clinic.” Her DNP project chair was Dr. Augustina Manuzak.

These graduates have not only demonstrated their commitment to advancing nursing knowledge and practice but have also showcased their ability to make a positive impact in healthcare. Their successful project defenses exemplify the excellence and dedication fostered within HPU's DNP program.
