Capstone Symposium Zoom Presentation.
Congratulations to all 2024 Capstone Symposium presenters for a successful event and to the award winners for outstanding work! The full program is available and the list of award winners is published here.
With 81 presentations, this was the largest Capstone Symposium in the 12 years of the event. Presentations cover a wide range of topics in 14 disciplines: Computer Science, Diplomacy and Military Studies, Education Leadership, English, International Studies, Marine Biology, Marine Science, Multimedia Cinematic Arts, Nursing, Political Science, Public Health, Social Work, Strategic Communication, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Presenters were poised and articulate in sharing their work, taking college learning to real-world problems and solutions. The virtual event was joined by students, faculty, staff, and friends and family members near and far.
The organizing committee would like to thank President Gotanda and Provost Walsh for supporting the event and giving encouraging words to students and faculty members in their opening and closing remarks. We appreciate the college Deans, who not only supported the students with the Dean's Awards but also attended the presentations throughout the day. The Capstone Symposium would not be a success without the contribution of dedicated faculty and staff members who served as Capstone Mentors, Proposal Reviewers, and Judges. We would also like to thank the Office of Academic Affairs (especially Joan Ishaque), Marketing and Communications (especially Dabney Gough, Michael Matsushita, and Kinsey Tsuruta), Student Life (especially the Student Activity Committee), Career Development Center, and HPU Libraries. Please see the full acknowledgements .
The Capstone Symposium Organizing Committee includes Dr. Brett Neilson (co-chair), Dr. Hanh Nguyen (co-chair), Dr. Noelia Paez (organizer), and Dr. Mary Smith (organizer).
