HPU PROFESSORS HONORED AT SIGMA 47TH ANNUAL BIENNIAL CONVENTION

HPU Assistant Professors Joelle Phillips, DPN, RN, and Associate Professor Jessica Nishikawa, DNP, APRN, were recently honored at the Region 1 Leadership Award at the Sigma Biennial Convention, held on November 11-15, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. According to , this is their largest event that features plenary speakers, networking opportunities, and over 800 oral and poster presentations.

The international award is a recognition of HPU’s significant leadership in planning the Sigma Region 1 Conference, themed “Nurses as Adaptive Leaders for Healthy People and Healthy Planet.”

The acknowledgment was particularly meaningful as it is bestowed upon a select group of individuals, underscoring the impact of HPU’s contributions to the successful execution of the conference.

Founded in 1922 by six nursing students, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, known as Sigma, has over 100,000 active members and 600 chapters worldwide. Spanning institutions globally, from Armenia to Australia and Botswana to Thailand, the United States, and Wales, Sigma's diverse membership includes clinical nurses, administrators, academic nurse educators, researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and other professionals. United in their commitment, Sigma aims to realize a vision of interconnected and empowered nurse leaders driving transformative change in global healthcare.
