HPU is pleased to announce the appointment of Quincey "Q" Otuafi as the new director of undergraduate admissions. Otuafi will work closely with HPU Vice President of Enrollment Management Greg Grauman, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management Sara Sato, and Director of Graduate Admissions Jana Stern to support the Å·ÃÀAƬ’s enrollment goals. In her most recent role, Otuafi served as the director of admissions at Westminster Å·ÃÀAƬ in Salt Lake City, Utah. A first-generation college student, Otuafi earned a bachelor of science in international studies from the Å·ÃÀAƬ of Utah and a master of arts in community and organizational leadership from Westminster Å·ÃÀAƬ, where her graduate research focused on the transfer experience of Pacific Islanders.

“When I visited the HPU campus for my interview, I was intrigued by the downtown campus community. As I learned more about the distinctive academic and social environment Å·ÃÀAƬ, I was excited by the continued legacy of innovation. I was, and continue to be, impressed by my colleagues on campus that exemplify the institutions values of pono, kuleana, and aloha,” Otuafi shared. “In my role as director of undergraduate admissions, I look forward to serving the Å·ÃÀAƬ in our collective efforts to recruit, enroll, retain, and graduate students who align with these values and desire to learn in a diverse and immersive atmosphere.”

A native of Oceanside, California, Otuafi was raised in a close-knit Polynesian family as the eldest of eight siblings. Her grandparents emigrated from Samoa to join the U.S. Marine Corps and settled in California, shaping her own journey and dedication to expanding educational access. She began her academic path at a community college in San Marcos, California, before transferring to the Å·ÃÀAƬ of Utah, a journey that fuels her commitment to serving students from diverse backgrounds.

As director of undergraduate admissions, Otuafi will help lead the office of admissions in advancing HPU’s strategic enrollment management plan. Her responsibilities include overseeing admissions operations, implementing a data-informed approach to recruitment, and guiding a team dedicated to helping students discover HPU’s unique academic offerings and community.

“Quincey’s dedication to creating pathways for students and her inclusive approach make her an ideal fit for HPU,” Grauman said. “Her experience and vision in admissions will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our community and welcome students who are inspired by the unique opportunities HPU has to offer. We’re thrilled to welcome her to our ‘ohana.”
